This year, the Aachen Award for Gender- and Sex- specific research in medicine (GESmed) will be awarded for the first time at the Faculty of Medicine.

The importance of gender-specific medicine is increasingly being recognized through the allocation of corresponding funding, its planned inclusion in the new medical licensing regulations, and, ultimately, its high profile in the media. In order to highlight the activities in this area at the Medical Faculty of RWTH Aachen University and to recognize outstanding research in this field, the faculty is awarding the Aachen Prize for Gender-Specific Research in Medicine (GESmed) for the first time this year.

Submissions may include (for example) scientific papers in the form of:

- Own studies (including unfinished projects)

- Treatment concepts from clinics or healthcare providers

- Interdisciplinary approaches to diagnostics, prevention, or therapy

- Reflections or analyses on sex or gender in healthcare

The only important requirement is that the work must focus on sex or gender-specific differences.

Conditions of participation:

Applicants must be members of the Faculty of Medicine.

The work must have been produced primarily at the Faculty of Medicine.
