Add to CalendarExploration Grants, Plus 3, and Rise up! – these are the funding programmes of the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung addressing basic researchers in biology, chemistry, and medicine in Germany. All three programmes aim to support scientists during critical stages of their careers by enabling them to advance and develop their research profiles and to pursue bold ideas.
With the scientific conferences programme, the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung promotes international and cross-generational exchange on latest research results.
The Rise up! programme is aimed at outstanding and exceptionally creative basic scientists in biology, chemistry, and medicine who have accepted their first appointment to an associate professorship at a German university. With Rise up!, they can bring forward an especially innovative research programme that may have a lasting impact on their field.
With its Plus 3 funding programme, the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung aims to support outstanding junior group leaders in Germany conducting basic research in biology, chemistry, and medicine.
It enables them to optimally use the productive phase of their first temporary position as research group leaders as a springboard to a professorship in an excellent research environment.
Approximately 90 % of group leaders whose Plus 3 funding started between 2010 to 2023 have obtained a professorship or a tenured group leader position, and more than 40 % of all group leaders funded through the Plus 3 programme came from abroad.
With its Exploration Grants, the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung aims to provide outstanding scientists doing basic research in biology, chemistry, and medicine with the opportunity to explore new lines of research at an early stage of their careers.
They thus enable junior research group leaders to pursue new ideas or surprising findings that have the potential to broaden or reorient their research profile.
