Young Researchers’ Award for Gender-Sensitive Medicine
Translation of the German Call
Taking gender into account is essential for providing the best possible, personalised healthcare. To recognise innovative research approaches in this field, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is this year launching an award for outstanding research work. It is aimed at PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
Applications are invited from researchers who have produced promising early research in the field of gender-sensitive medicine and who have established an independent scientific profile. The prize will be awarded by Federal Research Minister Dorothee Bär at the specialist symposium ‘Mind the Gap: Focus on Gender-Sensitive Medicine’, taking place in Berlin on 24 November 2026.
To apply, researchers must submit a brief description of their research work, outlining its clinical relevance and potential. This should be formulated in such a way that it can be presented in a pitch lasting approximately three minutes. A CV must also be submitted. Certificates and letters of recommendation may be submitted on an optional basis. The deadline for applications is 17 August 2026.
The award is endowed with 5,000 euros. Two PhD students and two postdocs will be awarded the prize.
