Gender and Diversity in Third-Party funding applications
The German Council of Science and Humanities recommends anchoring the topic of gender perspective much more intensively in the field of medicine, both in teaching and in research. Gender-specific aspects and special attention to the biological differences between men and women play a key role in medical research in particular. The DFG also encourages researchers to consider possible aspects of gender and diversity when planning a research project and to address them accordingly in the funding proposal. The DFG provides a short checklist and case examples from the life sciences for this purpose. Comprehensive materials on the topic, including checklists and case studies, can be found at the Gendered Innovations project.
The above-mentioned material relates to the topic of gender and diversity as a substantive aspect of research. This topic also plays a major role with regard to the framework conditions for scientific work. RWTH Aachen University offers advice on gender, diversity and equal opportunities in funding proposals. Current information from the DFG on equal opportunities and diversity can be found on their website. In 2024, the DFG expanded the possible uses of the "Standard Allowance for Equity and Diversity".
