START Program - Apply now!

The program is aimed at young researchers with little or no experience in applying for project funding. It includes the funding of a clearly formulated research project over a maximum of 2 years.

In this round only the “small proposal” with a funding limit of €25,000 can be applied for.

The aim of the program is to enable young researchers to gain experience in project planning, application and implementation and to create the personal prerequisites for applying for extramural funding, e.g. from the DFG.

Prerequisite for the minor application is a doctorate or, for natural scientists or members of other non-medical disciplines, equivalent achievements (diploma, master's degree) are sufficient.

Deadline for submission is June 15, 2025

Applications can only be submitted via the START portal. This is open for submissions from 05.05.2025.
