Scholarships for Doctoral Candidates
The RWTH offers doctoral scholarships of 1500€ / month for up to 36 months twice a year. These are also available to members of Faculty 10 who are pursuing a non-medical doctorate.
Applications can be submitted by 15 March (approval date 1 May) and 15 September (approval date 1 November). The awarding committee [Vergabekommission] of RWTH Aachen University decides on the allocation of the grant.
- In addition to the basic amount, a child allowance of €400/month can be granted.
- Scholarship holders are permitted to work part-time for 10 hours/month.
- The scholarships are initially granted for 12 months and can be extended to 36 months if the evaluation of an extension application is positive.
The funding requirements in brief:

- Above-average university degree, obtained no more than one year ago at the start of the programme.
- Doctoral project that is expected to make an important contribution to research. The doctorate must be carried out at RWTH Aachen University.
