GESmed - Award for Gender- and Sex- specific research in medicine
The award is presented by the Faculty of Medicine to members of the faculty for extraordinary achievements in the field of gender-specific research in medicine. This can be in the form of the publication of relevant research (including book contributions), but also other contributions such as the establishment of appropriate scientific treatment concepts. Young scientists in particular are encouraged to apply.
The aim of the award is both to recognize work on the topic of gender-specific medicine and to make research on this topic visible at the Faculty.
Relevant publications (dissertations, habilitations, book contributions, book editorships, books), but also scientifically evaluated treatment concepts and the like are eligible for submission. It must be clearly evident that the focus of the work is on gender or gender-specific differences; this can already be shown in the title, for example.
Individuals or groups can apply. The submitting person can specify which person(s) or groups are participating and, if applicable, which parts of the work have been taken over. A prerequisite for participation is that the submitter or those named as applicants in the submission own the corresponding intellectual property of the contribution. If the submission is a publication, mere co-authorship is not sufficient.
The prize money of € 3,000 will be paid out personally to the prizewinners together with their salaries to honor them individually. In the case of a joint submission, the prize money will be split; for administrative reasons, the money will be split between a maximum of two people.
Submissions are made via the ProFund portal during the application period.
The deadline for submissions is October 1 of each year; the call for submissions is published 4-6 weeks in advance.
