Combination possibilities of intramural funding
The Faculty of Medicine offers a variety of funding instruments in accordance with the different career stages and the diversity of the research work carried out here. Some of these can be used synergistically in parallel or one after the other, but in some cases they are also mutually exclusive alternatives.
The following overview is intended to give you an impression of which funding measures could be of particular interest to you in which career phase. (However, the respective eligibility requirements may or may not be fulfilled in earlier or later career stages.)
A more detailed overview of the Faculty's funding programs can be found in the document attached below. Detailed information on individual programs can be found on the respective pages in this course. Information on the interaction of the funding programs can be found in the table below.

Objective and possible combinations of funding programs
All funding instruments aim to promote your academic career in the best possible way and - depending on your career stage - prepare you, for example, for acquiring and managing external third-party funded projects or a later appointment to a professorship. Intramural funding measures are primarily used to kick-start or complete projects - you should therefore also carefully consider whether further internal funding is the right next step for your career. We will be happy to advise you at any time!
Please note: Only complete applications submitted on time with all required documents, attachments and signatures will be included in the review process. All requirements for an application or request must be met when submitting the application or request. The applicants are solely responsible for the completeness and correctness of the documents.
Applicants in all programs are therefore advised to study the statutes carefully, start preparing the application documents at an early stage and compare them with the checklists in the respective statutes.
Applications for the START program can only be submitted via the START portal. The CSP and MSP funding lines are processed via the ProFund portal. Both portals are user-friendly and easy to use, but we still recommend that you familiarize yourself with them at an early stage if you intend to submit an application in order to avoid technical difficulties shortly before the submission deadline. Further assistance can be found below or directly in the portal.
