Workshop "From invention to clinical innovation: Addressing unmet clinical needs by creating an impact story"
RWTH Innovation and the Leibniz Joint Lab fiT are organizing a free 2-day interactive workshop: “From Invention to Clinical Innovation: Addressing Unmet Clinical Needs by Creating an Impact Story”. The workshop will focus on translating research into impactful medical innovations and will cover methods for innovation potential, intellectual property and medical product development.Content
2-day interactive workshop with 2 modules:
Module 1
- Getting to know the methodology for analysing a medical innovation (e.g. Research CANVAS model).
- Reflection on the potential of their own research topic/idea.
- Evaluation of the potential by identifying users/stakeholders.
- Introduction to the legal basis of intellectual property in life science.
Module 2
- Using rational approaches to develop a safe, effective, and usable product from the idea to a CE certified, commercial product
- Understanding how to mitigate risk, improve quality, costs and value by data and science-based decision-making during development
- Applying product and process development using risk-based approaches and tools
- Learn to know the importance and value of interdisciplinary collaboration
Participation Requirements
No specific requirements. All disciplines involved in medical developments (engineering, material sciences, biology, medicine, chemistry, process development, pharmaceutics, Medtech, etc.) are welcome
Participants are welcome to bring their own scientific project ideas, which can be assessed further developed as a model project
