Biobank RWTH cBMB
The Centralized Biomaterial Bank RWTH cBMB processes and preserves - with the written consent of the patient - human biosamples such as blood or tissue, which are left over after operations, for example, but are also sometimes taken separately. These biosamples are used for research projects aimed at improving patient care in the future.
As a central operating unit of the Faculty of Medicine, the biobank supports research in Aachen and beyond and provides a range of services for scientists. These include, among others:
- Standardized processing and preservation of a wide range of biomaterials and central storage at up to -196°.
- Provision of sample-associated data after pseudonymization
- Provision of an ethics vote for the collection and research of human biosamples
- Support and advice in the preparation of project applications and the planning of research projects using human biosamples
Further information and the rules of use can be found on the Biobank website.
