Support for International Researchers (RWTH Welcome Center)
The RWTH Welcome Center offers international researchers a wide range of support as they settle into life in Aachen and at RWTH. To take advantage of the many services offered, registration is ideally required before the start of your stay—please be sure to inform individuals coming from abroad to conduct research at your institution about this service well in advance.
Researchers coming to Aachen from abroad can receive assistance through the Welcome Center not only with onboarding at the university, but also with a variety of issues ranging from visas and family reunification to finding housing and insurance.
As part of the “Off to a Good Start” program, international doctoral candidates have the opportunity to network with other international researchers and get to know Aachen through campus or city tours.
As part of the StaffMentor Program, interested employees can sign up as mentors to assist international researchers in settling into life in Aachen. Interested mentees should register early, before the start of their stay.
The Welcome Center also supports departments in welcoming researchers at risk. Through the Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Humboldt Foundation, research grants of up to 24 can be secured for those affected.
