European Cooperation in Science & Technology: The COST-Programm
Dear Researchers,
We would like to draw your attention to the European Union’s COST Program. COST funds research networks (known as COST Actions) for four years to bring together stakeholders from academia, industry, and NGOs around a specific thematic focus.
These networks offer many advantages, particularly for early-career researchers. These may include, among other things:
Networking opportunities and the chance to establish long-term collaborations
Easier access to research infrastructures
Opportunities for stays abroad or career development in Europe
Furthermore, it has been shown that COST Actions frequently give rise to successful collaborative projects that demonstrate a significantly higher success rate in funding programs such as Horizon Europe compared to the average.
There are already numerous ongoing COST Actions for which participation can be requested. These can be easily found via a database: https://www.cost.eu/cost-actions-event/browse-actions/
Applications for new networks will also be accepted again shortly (submission period: July 31 – October 28, 2026) – The funding amount is approximately €150,000–180,000 per year; however, these funds are not intended for the research itself but rather for activities such as networking events, conference participation, etc.
