The “Main” funding line of the Medical Scientist Program at the Faculty of Medicine at RWTH Aachen is aimed at early-career researchers from all disciplines who are engaged exclusively in research.

This medical research program is designed to address the fact that the Faculty of Medicine is home to a diverse group of researchers who do not have a medical background or who wish to pursue a career in research rather than clinical practice. The goal of the “Main” funding line is to provide early-career researchers with better conditions for the further development of their independent scientific careers and the freedom to develop research ideas by funding their own positions. The funding line is aimed at researchers in the late doctoral or early postdoctoral phase. All information, as well as the statutes of the funding line, can be found on the program website.

Applications can be submitted immediately and exclusively via the ProFund portal (https://profund.ukaachen.de). The application deadline is Monday, June 1, 2026, and the earliest start date for funding is January 1, 2027.
